Elementary Observation Reflection 3.4

Observing the elementary school has been a great experience for me. I really enjoy being in the kindergarten classroom. The students and teacher made me feel very welcomed for being in their class .

The students are very kind and sweet. I like helping them with their work when they need it. They will listen to Mrs. Brandy and try their best each day.

The students sit on the carpet while Mrs. Brandy teaches. They answer questions and they engage in the lesson. She handles behavior well and moves smoothly from one activity to the next.

I did my puppet show on March 5th, the children loved the show. They understood the story and listened well. I asked questions at the end and they answered correctly and explained how they feel about the story

Overall, I have really enjoyed my time in the elementary classroom. the students are jund and ready to learn. this experience has helped me learn more about teaching young children.

Preschool Observations 3.3

Spending time observing the preschool has been such a great experience. when I walk in I always feel a very welcoming environment. I can tell the teachers enjoy what they do, and It shows in the way they interact with the children everyday.

One thing that ready stickers out to me is how behaved most of the children are. They do still have their moments, they are pretty young, but overall they listen well and follow directions. When behavior issues do happen the teachers handle things very responsibly and professionally.

The classroom is very organized and structured. The children have a very good routine and their schedule never changes. The centers are very well organized and their activities are clear.  When they do activities the teachers help the children understand the assignment. Overall, the preschool has a very positive learning environment.

My puppet show presentation was a very positive experience. The teachers were very welcoming and supportive and helped keep the students engaged in the puppet show.  I have learned a lot from watching how the teachers handle their children and how they get them to listen.

Overall, observing the preschool has been a learning and positive experience. The teachers were very welcoming and the class from was very well structured. I learned so much from how the teachers reached and handled their children.

3.2 100th Day of School

The 100th day of school is very special, but in high school we do not celebrate like we used to. When we were younger, we did crafts, and had many fun activities to celebrate the 100th day of school. For high school we could have a spirit day, fundraiser, or my favorite ¨ 100 acts of kindness ¨ challenge. The 100 acts of kindness is the best one  because it makes the day more meaningful than the other ideas. Celebrating 100 acts of kindness is a very simple way to celebrate costing no money, and still keeping it fun for high school students.

3.1: My One Word

Everyone chooses a word that they want to represent or to become. For me, my word is growth. To me growth is not just a word, but a change I want to make, so I can be the best version of myself.

Right now growth means to become a better version of myself. Growth is about learning from my mistakes, to become stronger mentally and be more understanding of my actions and choices. Growth also means not staying the same person forever, I want to change and grow from the challenges I go through.

In 2026, I want the word growth to mean growth in my mental health, growing as a person, becoming stronger, more understanding, and more comfortable with myself. People will focus on growing in money or growing in friends more than emotionally and mentally.

Overall, my word is growth because it represents who I want to become. I want to keep becoming the best version of myself. I chose this word for the year because I know you cannot grow overnight it takes time and patience and it cannot all happen at once.

2.1 Mini-teach Highlight

I was given the opportunity to teach a mini lesson to a grade level of my choice for Halloween, and I chose to work with 1st graders. My lesson focused on helping Dracula find the shape of a square.

One thing I think I did really well was how I taught the lesson. I started by teaching the whole class, then had them work in groups, and finally had them try it on their own. I think this helped them really understand what we were learning. All of the students were listening, asking questions, and actually getting the concept, which was really good.

Another positive was that the lesson was fun. The kids got to color, look for shapes, and work with their friends. They were excited and engaged the whole time, which made the activity even better.

Overall, the lesson went really well, and I’m glad I got the chance to experience being the teacher for a day. It made me even more excited about teaching in the future.
